On June 27 the Warkworth Special Olympics soccer group hosted a ribbon day of various skills and games held on Shoesmith Reserve in Warkworth.
These went very well with 10 teams attending- some from as far away as the Waikato.
Overall games winners were North Harbour with Warkworth coming in at second place on points.

Hi Everyone
Hope you are all keeping well. It has been alot tougher this season to keep the website updated but we are looking into different options at present. If any of you have any ideas on this please let me know.
We have had some really good results from all of our sides so far and it is great now to be able to say that all of our teams from 9th Grade right through to the Over 35's have new kits and this is due to the great support of our local sponsors.
This weekend sees alot of action at the club with the Mini Midgets and Midgets starting at 9am and then games right upto 2.45pm. The club shop will be open all day so please come along and show your support. In the club shop we have the new Warkworth polo shirt for you to buy for only $20 and club beanies for $12. The main pull for you should be watching the clubs first team play in the first round of the Chatham Cup and this game kicks off at 2pm.
It now hurts me to say that the club have had to deal with a situation this week which took place last Saturday morning and on this matter we have issued a statement below for you all to read.
We are here for the kids and to have fun please remember this...
Keep passing the ball,
Paul Gothard
Chairman
Dear members,
Due to a recent appalling event which occurred on Saturday 8th May 2010, the club has been placed under unfortunate circumstances, and therefore issues this statement.
The committee held a meeting on the 11th May 2010 to discuss the mentioned incident and carefully reviewed all parties written statements.
Never has a situation such as this arisen before for Warkworth soccer club. Therefore the outcome has resulted in a zero tolerance approach.
Two parents of club members have received a season ban and another has been handed a 4 week ban for there parts in the incident.
The club wishes to draw a line under this event as of today and now move forward.
The committee stresses that soccer is fun and most importantly about the children. They wish to remind all adults that at all times they need to set an example to those who learn from us.
Regards
Warkworth Soccer Club Committee Members.

Chairman of Warkworth Soccer Club Paul Gothard has had a very busy summer and now feels that the club is ready for the start of it's new season. The club have been promoted into the top flight of United Soccer 1 league which will be a really big test.
With Sam Malcomson stepping down as first team manager at the end of last season and the club getting a reserve team in place that meant that there were openings in a few roles. The club advertised the positions and at the end of last week the club have announced that the man to lead the first team will be Danny Notley assisted by Mark Healey who will look after the reserve side and Robin Bailey has been appointed as the new 17th Grade team coach.
Danny has been involved with the club for a number of years now and feels that he has what it takes to move the club forward, Mark has been in charge of the 17th Grade team last season and there results spoke for themselves and Robin will be starting his second season with the club after doing a great job with last years 15th Grade team and he also brings along a number of years experience of coaching at a very good level.
Club Chairman Paul Gothard says "It has been a long few weeks for me and the board, we have had a number of meetings with different coaches and feel that Warkworth Soccer Club needs someone in charge who has the club at mind and understands what we are all about. At the end of the day we are just a small club in Rodney moving in the right direction"
The first team and anyone keen on playing will be starting there pre-season on Wednesday 27th January at Shoesmith Domain at 6.15pm. The club is holding its rego days at the clubrooms on the 14th Feb from 9-11am, 20th Feb 9-12pm and 24th Feb 4-6pm.
The club is also on the look out for any women/girls that are keen to play and are looking to have a ladies side in the league this year also.
